Laveer Logix partnered with Bernalillo County for the Relief of Emergency Needs for Tenants (RENT) Assistance Program and Housing Stability Services.
This program provides rental and utility assistance for applicants who qualify through the following events:
- Live outside the City of Albuquerque and within Bernalillo County.
- Have a financial impact during the COVID-19 pandemic that made it difficult to pay rent or utilities.
- Currently, be on a lease or month-to-month rental agreement, and not have their rent fully covered by other federally subsidized rental assistance programs (such as project-based voucher assistance, a housing choice voucher, or public housing).
- Not be a full-time student whose rent is paid by someone else.
- Have documentation that shows the household’s current total gross household income is less than 80% of the median family income.
Case Management:
Laveer Logix provided Case Management services, working one on one with tenants in need of rental and/or utility assistance to provide guidance and support with the RENT application process. They also collected required documentation from tenants in addition to providing service referrals for additional community services, where necessary, to assist clients with other challenging barriers.
Laveer Logix rose awareness to the Bernalillo County RENT assistance program by distributing information to the local community to inform and educate those that encountered barriers. such as individuals who are unable to gather all of the required documentation on their own, those who are uncomfortable completing a digital application, do not have access to a computer, and those who are Spanish speakers or do not read/write. Laveer Logix partnered with stakeholders throughout the community, including local non-profit organizations, religious groups, community centers, residential landlords, and property managers. Over 50 outreach events were conducted by Laveer Logix, most of which were held in the unincorporated parts of the county where eligible applicants could attend, including zip codes 87105, 87121, and 87114.
Case managers used an array of software tools to determine eligibility, submit applications to the county and to document important data.
Smartsheet and Penelope platforms were used to record prospective and active applicants as well as schedule appointments. The Neighborly website was used to enter paper applications digitally and submit to Bernalillo County, and the county GIS map was the tool used to confirm address eligibility for the program.
